Threadlift

A thread lift is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure designed to lift and tighten sagging skin using dissolvable sutures. When used to tackle a double chin, the procedure can help reduce the appearance of sagging skin, enhance the jawline, and improve the overall contour of the neck and chin area.

PDO Threads (Polydioxanone)

These are the most commonly used threads in thread lift procedures. They provide a good lift and are excellent for collagen stimulation. PDO threads dissolve naturally over about 6 months.

PLA Threads (Poly-L-Lactic Acid)

These threads stimulate collagen production and last longer than PDO threads, with a lifespan of about 12 months before dissolving.

PCA Threads (Polycaprolactone)

PCA threads last the longest—around 18 months—and provide excellent long-term skin-tightening benefits by boosting collagen production.

Benefits:

Non-Surgical:

Unlike traditional neck lifts or chin liposuction, a thread lift requires no surgery, large incisions, or general anesthesia. It’s a quick, minimally invasive alternative for those seeking mild to moderate lifting.

Immediate Results:

Patients will notice an immediate improvement in the contour of the neck and chin area, with full results becoming more apparent over the following months as collagen production increases.

Minimal Downtime:

The procedure typically takes less than an hour, and recovery time is short. Most patients can return to normal activities within a day or two, with only minor swelling or bruising at the injection sites.

Natural-Looking Results:

The subtle lifting effect provides a more natural appearance compared to surgical options, making it ideal for those looking for a gentle enhancement rather than a dramatic change.

Collagen Stimulation:

As the threads stimulate collagen production, the results continue to improve over time, and the skin becomes firmer, smoother, and more youthful even after the threads dissolve.

How does it work?

During the procedure, specialized biodegradable threads (often made of materials like polydioxanone (PDO), poly-L-lactic acid (PLA), or polycaprolactone (PCA)) are inserted into the subdermal layer of the skin using fine needles or cannulas. The threads are strategically placed to lift and tighten the sagging skin under the chin.

The threads are gently pulled to reposition the skin, lifting it upward to create a more defined jawline and neck contour. The mechanical lift provided by the threads helps reduce the appearance of the double chin.

In addition to the immediate lifting effect, the threads stimulate the body’s natural collagen production as they dissolve over the next 6-9 months. Collagen is essential for maintaining firm, youthful skin, so as the skin heals around the threads, it becomes firmer and tighter, further enhancing the contour of the neck and chin.

The best candidates are those with mild to moderate skin laxity. If the double chin is caused by excessive skin sagging rather than fat, a thread lift can provide significant improvement. It is ideal candidates should have relatively good skin elasticity to respond well to collagen stimulation.

Immediate Effect: The lifting effect is visible right after the procedure.

Long-Term Results: Over the next few months, the skin will continue to tighten and firm as collagen is produced around the threads. Results can last anywhere from 12 to 18 months, depending on the type of thread used and the individual’s skin condition.

Maintenance: Follow-up treatments can be performed every 1 to 2 years to maintain the lifted look, as aging naturally continues.
